Haleakala Upcountry Downhill Bike & Brew Tour

Maui Sunriders offers the best Self-Guided Haleakalā Downhill Bike Tour on Maui—now featuring a unique Upcountry tasting experience. This is one of the easiest and most picturesque rides you’ll ever do—all downhill—with incredible photo opportunities at nearly every turn.

We meet at our bike shop in Pāʻia at 8:45 AM. After gear fitting and a safety briefing, enjoy a narrated van tour up Haleakalā, where your guide shares local history, cultural insights, and must-see recommendations along the way.

The ride begins at approximately 6,500 feet, just outside the National Park entrance. This 6.5-mile stretch is the most scenic and popular section of the Haleakalā downhill ride. Guests often say they wish they could do this section again—so now you can. Ride the upper switchbacks twice for a total of 13 miles of unforgettable downhill cruising.

After completing both laps, we shuttle guests (~15 minutes) to the Lāhainā Brewing Co. Upcountry Taproom, now home to the combined legacy of Mahalo Aleworks and Koholu Brewing. Enjoy a 1-hour tasting experience, including one drink, with a wide selection of craft beer, wine, cider, hard kombucha, and non-alcoholic beverages. Local food trucks are located right next door (optional, on your own).

Following the tasting, we shuttle you back to our Pāʻia bike shop (~20 minutes), with guests returning around 1:30 PM.

This tour includes full roadside assistance—our support van and drivers are always nearby and ready to help if needed.
