Your tour begins with a simple, guided launch from the Wailoa boat ramp. From there, you’ll paddle through peaceful channels lined with lush greenery and glide beneath graceful Japanese-style bridges, often called the “dragon arches” for their elegant design.

Along the way, you’ll spot native birds, colorful fish, and other wildlife that call the river home. Midway through the paddle, take a break near the King Kamehameha Statue, where your guide shares stories about Hilo’s history — from the rise of King Kamehameha to the tsunamis that reshaped the town.
