About
DIVE into science with Tybee Shark Teeth Tours to explore Tybee Island where you will find all kinds of shark teeth and fossils. You will be sure to make a SPLASH with your students by giving them a scientific adventure to learn about where and how to go about finding fossils and shark teeth on Tybee Island! This educational experience fits very well with Georgia 3rd, 5th and 6th grade science standards. Listed below are some of the standards in which we meet.
S3E2. Obtain, evaluate, and communicate information on how fossils provide evidence of past organisms.
a. Construct an argument from observations of fossils (authentic or reproductions) to communicate how they serve as evidence of past organisms and the environments in which they lived.
b. Develop a model to describe the sequence and conditions required for an organism to become fossilized. (Clarification statement: Types of fossils (cast, mold, trace, and true) are not addressed in this standard.)
There also are a couple math standards that this tour fits as we discuss about length of the shark teeth & how it is an indicator of the length of the actual shark.
we also meet 5th and 6th grade standards in regards to erosion and weathering and discussing and showing the erosion process.
Lastly CHOMP at FUN with your students and continue learning as everyone will receive their own bag for their shark teeth and or fossil finds to take home with them. Let us take your students on an immersive adventure right on the beach to find sharks teeth and fossils on the Georgia Coast!
