Shark Tooth & Fossil Hunting

If you’re looking for a unique and memorable adventure where you can get your hands dirty, our guided fossil hunting tour is the perfect addition to your trip! Captain Ken will take you to small islands created by the dredging of the Savannah River, giving you access to a wealth of fossils and artifacts, some of which have been preserved for millions of years! Look for Megalodon teeth, fossils from whales, sharks, and other Ice Age-era animals, artifacts like pottery fragments, beach glass and of course beautiful driftwood. Find treasures that are hundreds to millions of years old!

We find fossils year-round, so you’re always here during the right season! Fossil hunting is easiest in the 2 hours before and 2 hours after low tide, so check tide conditions LINK to book the best times. You can also give us a call for our advice! This is an action-packed tour with plenty of wildlife and beautiful scenery to check out along the way. You may see our resident Atlantic bottlenose dolphins, a variety of bird species, alligators, turtles, and more!

While some tours simply drop you off and wish you luck, our tours are guided - expert guide Captain Ken will be with you the entire time, sharing tips, keeping you safe, and helping you identify your treasures! Everything you find is yours to keep, so book with us for an unforgettable experience and unique souvenirs!

Fossil hunting can be muddy business - please be prepared to walk on uneven or slippery terrain and climb in and out of the boat in water that is ankle- to knee-deep. We recommend waterproof shoes with a good tread - no flip flops. Be prepared for a physically active experience!
