Banana Bus Tour
Perfect for Retreats, Parties, Group Visits & Accessibility • Four Hours • + Private Chimp Viewing
What to Expect
Whether you want a fun activity for your staff retreat, people in your animal-loving group have mobility issues or you're a bachelorette party that wants an unforgettable and unique outing, Project Chimps has the perfect solution for you! We'll even pick you up - introducing our Banana Bus!
This experience will last 3-4 hours, including door-to-door transport. Pick-up times are recommended between 10:00am and 10:30am.
Your tour guide and driver will explain the history of Project Chimps on the way to the sanctuary and take you on a tour around the habitat where you will be invited to offload at The Nest for prime chimp viewing. After the tour, you will have the opportunity to visit our gift shop where you will also receive your very own banana to snack on!
Please note, our Banana Bus holds up to twelve guests - 10 in standard seats, and 2 in wheelchair spaces.
Restrictions
At this time, we can only provide door-to-door service at the following locations/types:
- Hotels, RV camp grounds, resorts, and state parks in Fannin, Union or Gilmer Counties of Georgia.
Additionally, we can arrange to meet a group at any South State Bank or Chamber’s Visitor Center within those three counties where your personal cars may be parked for the duration of the tour at no cost.
Additional locations may be an option but will need to be discussed before booking to ensure the bus can safely traverse the route (many rural roads, unpaved community roads or steep incline routes will not be able to be serviced. We may be able to work out an agreeable location to meet your party at for the pickup.)
You can also come to the sanctuary directly and ride the bus from our own parking lot and, therefore, enjoy the hiking trails before or after your tour at your own pace!

These tours are non-refundable but can be rescheduled. We will plan to hold your tour in most weather conditions. However, if there is a weather advisory affecting travel, we will recommend you reschedule. Additionally, extremely cold, extremely hot, or heavy rainstorms will impact your likelihood of seeing the chimpanzees and we will discuss rescheduling options if these conditions are predicted. Light rain or snow does not impact their activities. We will also discuss rescheduling options if extreme situations impacting the bus occur (i.e. flat tires or mechanical issues).
