What to Expect
Hand-Building Foundations with Denise
8-Week Course | Begins Tuesday, Oct 6 | 6:30–9 PM
Ages 21+ | Beginner–Intermediate | $225 | Limited to 8 Students
Build a strong foundation in hand-built pottery while creating beautiful, useful pieces of your own.
In this eight-week course, Denise will guide students through the essential techniques of slab-based pottery, beginning with preparing and wedging clay and progressing through rolling slabs, joining, construction, surface finishing, glazing, and basic studio processes.
Projects will gradually build your skills and confidence, ranging from smaller pieces such as trinket dishes to more involved forms such as a wave bowl. Along the way, you’ll learn not just how to complete a project, but how clay behaves and how to make thoughtful decisions as you create.
This course is ideal for beginning and intermediate students, and repeat students are warmly welcomed. Returning students can continue strengthening their technique while taking their projects a little further.
After the fourth week, students will also have opportunities for independent studio practice, giving you additional time to work with clay, reinforce what you’re learning, and become more comfortable creating on your own.
