The Black Thoroughfare
Our guided walking tour examines the main corridor for Blacks in the Golden Isles in the City of Brunswick. The Albany Street thoroughfare was once the center of the community for newly freed slaves and has a beautiful hidden history that began right where the neighborhoods still stand today. Come walk, talk, listen, and fall in love with this iconic thoroughfare. We believe that to best understand our present and to prepare for our future, we need to learn about and honor those who came before us and paved the way.
