If the artist was invited to spray-paint a wall, can the work still be called graffiti? What is graffiti anyway and what’s the big fuss about it? This is the kind of stuff (and lots more) we talk about on the Wynwood Art Walk Graffiti and Drink Tour while browsing the ever-changing landscape of street art murals in Wynwood.

But first you'll sip a complimentary beer or glass of wine we serve you at our shop.

And a word about our shop: it’s part gallery, part pit-stop, part gift-shop. It’s filled with the art of local artists, handcrafted jewelry, hand-dyed and hand-painted clothing, and one-of-a-kind hand-sewn purses. Also: AC, restroom, drinks & snacks, check, check, check.

Once the drinks are served and guests are introduced, we will head out into the streets of Wynwood. Look up and notice the playful black-and-white pattern of the Wynwood Garage (created by the Faulders Studio) and some of the largest murals (like El Mac’s). But watch your step, too, because the sidewalks are stenciled with all manner of messages, and you may find one that really speaks to your heart. Keep your eye out for art stickered on street signs, mounted onto light poles, and hung on overhead wires. Many artists, local or passing through, leave a piece of themselves here. Your guide will give you the area’s backstory including how its stunning transformation came about from a blighted area to art hub and beyond. But the highlight of your tour will be the awe-inspiring and larger-than-life murals that color the walls of this neighborhood on themes ranging from sports heroes to animals, cityscapes, imaginary and enigmatic characters, abstract art, and more. We will talk techniques because spray paint is king, but there is more than one way of using it. And some murals were created with methods that have nothing to do with paint of any kind. We will also peek into the Wynwood Walls (we do not enter) and pass by some of the other must-know art institutions of the neighborhood like The Museum of Graffiti (visit after your tour if you're intrigued).

Street art has grown up, and you will be inspired by what you see and hear. Ask questions, take pictures, and immerse yourself in the scene.
Last but not least, your guide can make suggestions for drinks, brews, and eats, so if you wish, you can continue your evening in Wynwood.

What to Expect:

• Parking: Park at the Wynwood Garage (311 NW 26th Street) or on the surrounding streets using the Pay by Phone app, or have your driver drop you off directly at our shop.
• Meeting point: Our meeting point is our WAW Shop at 413 NW 27th Street, Miami, FL 33127. We are air-conditioned, have a restroom and sell cold drinks and a wide selection of original artwork, stickers, unique clothing, jewelry, and more.
• Waivers: As an insurance requirement, all guests have to sign a liability waiver.
• Dress code: This is an outdoor tour, so come dressed comfortably. Sunscreen and hat are a good idea. Stay hydrated!
• 21 and over: We apologize, but no guests under 21 will be able to join this tour. ID will be required.
