Handbuilding: Create Your Clay Sculpture

Handbuilding Clay Class – Create Without the Wheel
Unleash your creativity and get your hands into clay in our Handbuilding Pottery Class at Stroke Of Art. In this fun and relaxed class, you’ll create your own unique clay piece using traditional hand building techniques, no pottery wheel required.
When you arrive, you’ll choose between working with pinch pot or slab building techniques, two simple and versatile methods that allow you to shape clay into a variety of beautiful and functional pieces. Clay is a natural material and sometimes designs may need small adjustments during the building process to ensure they dry and fire properly, but don’t worry! Our experienced instructors will guide you every step of the way and help bring your ideas to life.
During this 1.5-hour group class, you’ll learn how to shape and design your own ceramic project. Using slab or pinch techniques, you can create items such as:
Cups and mugs
Bowls and plates
Small vases
Baking dishes
Holiday decorations
Decorative sculptures
Outdoor pottery pieces
This class is perfect for beginners and experienced creators alike. Whether you’re trying pottery for the first time or looking to explore new techniques, you’ll have the freedom to experiment and express your artistic vision.
Our classes are welcoming for both children and adults, making them a great activity for families, friends, date nights, or group outings. Your instructor will demonstrate each step and provide guidance while you work on your project so everyone leaves with something personal and unique.
Clay can be a little messy, so we recommend wearing clothes you don’t mind getting dirty.
While you create, you can also enjoy the atmosphere of the studio sip drinks from the in-studio bar or relax with coffee and pastries available for purchase at the Van Goghblin Café while enjoying music and a creative vibe.
