What to Expect
During our exhilarating 2-tank morning wreck dive, we explore the legendary USNS General Hoyt S. Vandenberg, renowned as the world’s second-largest artificial reef. This majestic naval ship, purposefully sunk in 2009, serves as Key West’s most expansive and captivating artificial reef.
Located approximately 6 miles south-southeast of Key West within the pristine Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary (FKNMS), the Vandenberg rests at a depth of 140 feet. Our adventure takes us to a maximum depth of 100 feet, allowing us to navigate the expansive deck of this colossal vessel.
The dive unveils an underwater landscape teeming with marine biodiversity, with the ship’s towering structures now encrusted with colorful corals and bustling with vibrant sea life. Each tank offers a unique perspective—whether gliding along the deck’s remnants or peering into the ship’s intriguing corridors, the Vandenberg promises an unforgettable underwater experience.
