Ever wondered what it feels like to breathe underwater? Try Scuba Diving is a full-day introduction to scuba diving — no certification or prior experience required. By the end of the day, you'll have trained in the pool, boarded the dive boat, and explored a real coral reef.

What Makes Scuba-Fun Different

We take a maximum of 4 students per instructor. Smaller groups mean your instructor can focus on you — adjusting the pace to your comfort level, giving you more hands-on coaching, and spending more time on the reef instead of managing a crowd.

Your Day Step by Step

Your morning starts at our dive shop on the Overseas Highway with a classroom session. Your PADI-certified instructor covers everything you need to know — how to use the equipment, how to breathe through a regulator, how to equalize your ears, and the hand signals you'll use to communicate underwater.

From there, you move to the pool. This is where you practice the skills in shallow water until you're comfortable and confident. There's no rushing — you move to the ocean when you're ready.

After a lunch break, you board the dive boat and head to one of Key Largo's reef sites. Key Largo sits along the only living coral barrier reef in the continental United States, and the shallow reef areas here are ideal for first-time divers — warm water, mild currents, and excellent visibility.

On the reef, your instructor stays with you the entire dive, pointing out coral formations, tropical fish, rays, lobsters, and whatever else the reef has to offer that day.

What You Might See

Key Largo's reefs are home to an incredible variety of marine life. On a typical dive you may encounter colorful tropical fish swimming through coral gardens, small reef creatures and invertebrates you'd never spot from the surface, stingrays gliding along the sand, spiny lobsters tucked into crevices, and — if you're lucky — a sea turtle cruising through the shallows.

Why Key Largo

Key Largo is called the Dive Capital of the World for a reason. The Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary protects over 2,800 square miles of ocean, and Key Largo sits right at its heart. The water is warm year-round, the currents are gentle, and the visibility regularly reaches 40 to 80 feet. There is no better place in the continental US to try scuba diving for the first time.

Unfavorable Sea Conditions

On days when boats cannot operate due to weather, dives are conducted in a protected mangrove lagoon where you'll explore a unique underwater habitat. A partial refund of $95 per person will be issued in such cases.

Who Can Participate

You must be at least 10 years old, able to swim in water too deep to stand, and able to pass a PADI medical questionnaire or provide a current doctor's release. Your instructor may conduct a brief swim assessment before the pool session. This program is ideal for families, couples, and anyone curious about what it's like to scuba dive.

What Happens After

If you love it, your Try Scuba experience can count as credit toward a full PADI Open Water Diver certification — so nothing you did today is wasted. If you just wanted a one-day adventure, that works too. No pressure, no commitment.

Important Information

All participants must know how to swim. If a participant is unable to swim, does not feel comfortable in the water, or chooses to leave the program early, no refund will be issued. Please review the cancellation policy carefully before booking.
