What to Expect

A full day in the backcountry is the trip serious anglers ask for by name. Eight hours means we fish an entire tide cycle — the incoming, the slack, the outgoing — and each one turns on different fish in different places. We'll run deep into the Lower Keys backcountry, working mangrove shorelines, basins, channel edges, hard bottom, and flats that sit hours from the dock and see almost no pressure. Some of the best fishing down here happens in the middle of the day when everybody else has already headed in.

This is also the trip with the best odds on the fish people remember. Tarpon are a realistic target with a full day to hunt them. So are permit, grouper, cobia, and mutton snapper that don't show up as much on a short run. Along the way you'll find plenty of mangrove snapper, red grouper, barracuda, sharks, jack crevalle, and yellow jacks to keep rods bent between shots. Catch cleaning and filleting are included, so you can take dinner straight to a local restaurant that will cook it for you.

Everything runs off a 2023 Pathfinder 2600 HPS with a 300HP Yamaha, GPS, fishfinder, wireless trolling motor, and a live well kept stocked with whatever is working. Rods, reels, lures, bait, ice, water, and Florida fishing licenses are all provided for up to five anglers. Captain Brooks has been chasing fish since he was a kid and has spent years learning these waters specifically — a full day is when that local knowledge really shows.
