Paddle Out, Sandbar & Snorkel Adventure
Start your morning with an open-water adventure off Key Biscayne. Launch from Crandon Park by paddleboard or kayak and head out across the shallow waters and seagrass beds of Biscayne Bay. This isn't a fixed sightseeing route. It's a hop-on, hop-off paddle adventure where we'll stop along the way to swim, snorkel and explore.
Paddle offshore. Explore a sandbar. Snorkel beneath the surface.
Start your morning with an open-water adventure off Key Biscayne. Launch from Crandon Park by paddleboard or kayak and head out across the shallow waters and seagrass beds of Biscayne Bay.
This is a hop-on, hop-off paddle adventure, with opportunities to stop along the way to swim, snorkel and explore.
The Adventure
We'll paddle from Crandon Park across expansive seagrass beds toward a shallow offshore sandbar, where we'll get off our boards and kayaks to rest, swim and explore.
Along the way, we'll stop to snorkel over different areas of seagrass and search beneath the surface for whatever the morning brings. You may encounter tropical fish, rays, lobsters, sea turtles, manatees and other marine life.
Wildlife sightings are never guaranteed. Some mornings have plenty of activity while others are quiet. The experience is about exploring Key Biscayne's open-water environment from both above and below the surface.
When conditions and group ability allow, we may continue farther offshore toward areas of fossilized reef for another opportunity to snorkel and explore.
If you're on a paddleboard and we find a small break along the way, conditions may even provide an opportunity to catch a few waves before heading back.
Every Tour Is Different
There is no fixed route.
Wind, waves, currents, tides, visibility and the group's energy level determine where we explore each morning.
The fossilized reef is a possible destination, not a guaranteed stop. If conditions become challenging or the group becomes tired, your guides may shorten or modify the route.
No two mornings on the water are exactly the same.
Experience Level
This is an open-water paddle, so participants should be comfortable in the water and prepared for changing conditions.
Previous paddleboarding or kayaking experience is recommended, particularly on days with more wind, waves or current. On calmer days, conditions may be suitable for less-experienced paddlers or beginners who are comfortable in the water and confident swimmers.
The route is adjusted based on the conditions and the group's overall ability. Your guides will determine the appropriate route and snorkeling stops for the day.
All participants should be confident swimmers and comfortable swimming in open water.
Snorkel Equipment
A mask and snorkel are required for the snorkeling portion of the adventure.
Mask and snorkel are provided. Guests are welcome to bring their own, or purchase a new mask and snorkel set from PADL for $30 before departure. Purchased equipment is yours to keep after the tour.
Paddleboard or kayak, paddle, PFD and required paddling safety equipment are provided.
