Bioluminescence Paddle Adventure

A magical world comes to life after sunset on this one-of-a-kind bioluminescent paddleboard and kayak tour. From May through September, during Florida’s warmest months, the calm waters of the Banana River begin to glow with millions of microscopic dinoflagellates—creating a natural light show that feels straight out of a dream.

We launch from Kiwanis Island Park, a scenic paddling spot nestled within a wildlife sanctuary in Merritt Island—just minutes from Cocoa Beach and about an hour from Orlando. This peaceful location offers protected waters, lush mangrove shorelines, and a front-row seat to some of Florida’s most breathtaking natural beauty.

As night falls, the real magic begins. With every paddle stroke or splash of your hand, the water lights up in neon blue-green. Aquatic sea life leaves glowing trails beneath the surface, and the gentle movement of manatees or dolphins can spark bursts of light. Two Ways To Experience The Glow:

Sunset Tour: Start your adventure as the sun dips below the horizon, painting the sky in rich hues of orange and pink. Then, watch as the glowing waters slowly come to life under the twilight sky.

Late Night Tour: For the dreamers and night owls—paddle beneath a star-filled sky as the bioluminescence is at its peak. The darker it gets, the brighter the glow.
