What to Expect

Deadman’s Island is a little known natural preserve packed with history and steeped in legend. It’s located off the NW point of Gulf Breeze, and is only accessible by boat, kayak, or paddle board making it a local favorite and hidden gem of the area. Fewer still know of the Island’s rich history and legends of treasure.

Join Black Manta Kayak Club for an action adventure without equal. Think scavenger hunt/outdoor escape room Goonies style starring you, your friends or family. This outdoor activity is for ages 8+ as you have to be able to follow context clues to lead the way. You will use clues from real Pensacola history, your wits to solve puzzles, your powers of observation to find keys and if you are lucky, locate the legendary Treasure of Deadman’s Island.

If you choose to accept this adventure, we will meet you at the Wayside Park where staff will set you up with kayaks and all the necessary gear to safely kayak to Deadman’s Island. Its a short 1/2 mile distance but if you need an escort we can accommodate. During you experience you will receive a trove of information and any equipment to navigate and complete challenges set up on the island. We will have someone from the crew on island in case you are stumped on what to do next or in the event of an emergency—watch out for pirates!

For centuries, many intrepid explorers have searched in vain, be the first to locate the treasure its finders keepers.

On-island facilitator to manage the treasure hunt, provide hints, and ensure safety
