Computer Nitrox Diver

The SDI Computer Nitrox Diver course is designed to train certified divers in the safe use of enriched air nitrox (EANx) using modern dive computers. Diving with nitrox allows for longer no-decompression limits, shorter surface intervals, and more conservative dive profiles.

This course focuses on understanding oxygen exposure, analyzing gas mixtures, setting your dive computer correctly, and planning dives within safe limits. Using a computer-based approach simplifies nitrox diving while maintaining strict adherence to safety protocols.

What You’ll Learn:

• Benefits and risks of diving with enriched air nitrox
• Oxygen exposure limits (CNS and OTU tracking)
• Maximum operating depth (MOD) and partial pressure limits
• Analyzing nitrox mixtures and verifying gas content
• Proper dive computer setup and use for nitrox diving
• Dive planning using computer-based methods

Required Skills Performance:

Students must demonstrate the ability to:

• Analyze and label nitrox cylinders correctly
• Calculate or confirm maximum operating depth (MOD)
• Program and verify dive computer settings for nitrox
• Plan dives within oxygen exposure and no-decompression limits
• Demonstrate understanding of nitrox safety procedures

Prerequisites:

Minimum age: 10 years old (with Parental Consent)
* SDI Open Water Scuba Diver certification or equivalent from a recognized agency
* Medically fit for diving

Course Structure:

• Academic session covering nitrox theory and safety
• Practical gas analysis training
• No open water dives required (dives may be added at instructor discretion)
• All training conducted under the direct supervision of an active SDI Instructor

What’s Included:

• SDI Computer Nitrox Diver training
• Instructor-led academic session
• Gas analysis training
• SDI certification card upon successful completion

What’s Not Included:

• Nitrox fills (unless specified)
• Personal dive computer (required for course participation)
• Personal dive equipment (rental available)

Certification:

Graduates of this course receive the SDI Computer Nitrox Diver certification. This certification allows divers to safely use enriched air nitrox mixtures (up to 40% oxygen) within the limits of their training.

Important Notes (SDI Compliance):

• Students must personally analyze and verify all nitrox mixtures before diving
• Oxygen exposure limits must be strictly observed on all dives
• A nitrox-compatible dive computer is required for this course
