What to Expect

The SDI Altitude Diver course is designed to train certified divers in the procedures and safety considerations required when diving at altitudes above 1,000 feet (300 meters) above sea level.

Diving at altitude requires adjustments to dive planning, depth calculations, and decompression considerations. In this course, divers will learn how altitude affects pressure, how to properly use altitude-adjusted dive tables or dive computers, and how to plan dives conservatively to reduce risk.

What You’ll Learn:

  • Effects of altitude on pressure and decompression theory
  • Proper use of altitude-adjusted dive tables and dive computers
  • Planning and executing altitude dives within no-decompression limits
  • Recognizing and managing risks specific to altitude environments
  • Dive site evaluation and environmental considerations

Prerequisites:

  • Minimum age: 10 years old
  • SDI Open Water Scuba Diver certification or equivalent from a recognized agency
  • Medically fit for diving

Course Structure:

  • Academic session covering altitude theory and planning
  • Optional two (2) open water dives conducted at altitude (Additional Fee)

Certification:
Graduates of this course receive the SDI Altitude Diver certification. This certification qualifies divers to safely plan and conduct dives in altitude environments within the limits of their training.

Important Notes (SDI Compliance):
