What to Expect
Experience the satisfaction of turning your own layered wooden bowl! In this beginner-friendly workshop, you'll learn the fundamentals of woodturning while transforming a carefully prepared hardwood blank into a beautiful, functional bowl. With step-by-step guidance, you'll gain confidence using a wood lathe as you shape, sand, and finish your project.
This workshop is taught by an instructor who completed extensive one-on-one training with master woodturner Matt Paisley, focusing specifically on the layered bowl project. After many hours of practice and successfully teaching alongside Matt, he was approved to lead this workshop independently. Students have praised his patient, encouraging teaching style and the quality of the instruction they received.
As part of Rocky Mountain Folk School's Instructor Development Program, this workshop is offered at a special introductory price. The program is designed to train and mentor future instructors while maintaining the high-quality learning experience our students expect. Every instructor must demonstrate proficiency in the project before teaching independently.
No previous woodturning experience is necessary. All tools, materials, and safety equipment are provided. By the end of the workshop, you'll leave with a stunning handcrafted layered wooden bowl and the confidence to continue exploring the rewarding craft of woodturning.
