Oh, what fun it is to ride!

Make unforgettable family Christmas memories aboard Santa’s Holiday Express from Chama, New Mexico!

This December, the historic Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad transforms into a festive holiday journey for the whole family.

Climb aboard at the historic Chama Depot for a Christmas train ride from Chama to Dalton and back. Enjoy time together aboard the train with hot chocolate, cookies, candy canes and holiday refreshments as you travel through the winter landscape of northern New Mexico.

And, of course, no Santa train would be complete without the man in red himself! Santa will visit with families onboard the train, giving children the chance to meet him and families the opportunity to capture a special Christmas memory together.

New this year, we are offering our Deluxe experience to make your holiday ride even more special.

Adult Deluxe tickets include one drink ticket. Alcoholic beverages will also be available for purchase to guests 21 and older with valid identification, with a maximum of two alcoholic drinks per guest during the excursion.

Nonalcoholic refreshments are available for children and guests under 21.

Check-in details

Chama Station ticket pick up is in the Gift Shop. Pick up tickets no later than 30 minutes before departure. Please arrive on time — we cannot wait for latecomers.

What to bring

For your comfort, the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad recommends that you consider the following when planning your trip:

  • The mountains can bring about sudden changes in the weather. It is important to wear layered clothing. Bring a warm coat, hat, and gloves!

  • Wearing sturdy, closed-toe shoes is also important to protect your toes and ankles when in the yard and on the train.

  • If spending time in the open gondola car, it is very important to wear protective eyewear to protect against cinders getting into your eyes.
    Sunglasses and prescription glasses are fine. We also sell safety glasses for your convenience.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellation's must be made 48 hours prior to the trip date. All sales are final and no refunds offered. Changes are subject to a $4 per ticket rebooking fee based upon availability.
