What to Expect

The Alpine Loop area near Lake City features a large variety of great ski tours. While there are a lot of terrain options once the roads to Cinnamon and Engineer Pass open in late May during the mid-winter there can be safe options for those prepared to do bigger tours in the mountains.

With open alpine bowls like the E. Face of Half Peak and S. Face of Handies offering big lines as well as open bowls lower down there are a variety of good backcountry options. For those looking to get deeper into the backcountry we suggest discussing snow mobile rentals with us.
