What to Expect

Everyone wants to leave their mark on an open face of perfect powder, hit a glade of open trees, or tear down a steep couloir. The feeling of riding in the backcountry is exhilarating but to get there first you have to learn the skills. During this course participants will learn how to:

  • Use backcountry touring equipment to access areas beyond the resort.
  • efficient track setting and backcountry navigation basics.
  • Set up and check avalanche equipment.
  • Assess terrain and weather for avalanche hazard.
  • Ride different types of snow.
