What to Expect

Gunnison is a pleasant mountain town near the San Juans. While there is fewer options with shorter days once you add in the longer days there are a variety of climbing areas to enjoy.
Choose between these amazing locations
- Hartman Rocks: a quiet granite area just outside town with small domes dotting the sagebrush hills there are a variety of slabs and cracks for beginners and more experienced climbers alike.
- Black Canyon of the Gunnison NP: while it's name might suggest it's near the town it's actually near the river for which the town is named. It's still a couple hours away. The climbs here are some of the biggest in Colorado and few can be completed in less than 8-10 hours requiring the climber be both efficient and proficient in rope skills.
