Ortovox Safety Sessions SAM3D Avalanche Danger & Tour Planning Clinic

As an Ortovox Safety Academy Partner, we’re excited to host a hands-on clinic: Risk Management in Avalanche Terrain and Tour Planning.

A free, hands-on avalanche safety clinic designed to help backcountry travelers better understand avalanche terrain, interpret the avalanche forecast, and make smarter tour-planning decisions. Participants use the ORTOVOX Safety Academy Mountain 3D model to work through real-world scenarios involving slope angle, aspect, elevation, terrain traps, avalanche problems, route selection, and group risk tolerance. The interactive format helps bridge the gap between avalanche theory and practical backcountry decision-making.

• How to interpret avalanche forecast information
• How to connect forecast conditions to terrain
• How to evaluate ascent and descent route options
• How group goals, experience, and risk tolerance affect decisions
