About

  • The American River Shad run is an awesome opportunity to get some hard pulling fish on a fly rod. The Shad run up from the ocean and any fish that comes from the salt tend to pull hard enough to make it a trip to remember. The Shad can get up to 6 lbs, and when the run is in full swing plenty of fish are landed throughout the float with doubles on the regular.

  • On a shad float trip, anglers can use a variety of different methods to catch fish. Nymphing with small attractor flies or swinging shad darts and nymphs are both great ways to catch fish.

  • Fishing the American river also has the bonus potential of hooking into a spring run steelhead.

American Shad Run

  • The run starts early May, and lasts until late June, with peak season occurring mid to late May

Included: Rods, flies, any and all fly fishing equipment needed.
Not Included: A California fishing license and a Steelhead report card. Gratuity if you choose.
