Whale & Wildlife Sail
All Ages • Up to 6 Passengers
What to Expect
Set sail along the Santa Barbara coast in search of marine wildlife aboard Kelpie, our classic private sailing yacht. Depending on the season, your sail may bring views of dolphins, sea lions, harbor seals, seabirds, and the occasional whale.
In March and April, this experience becomes our dedicated Gray Whale Watching Sail, timed with the northbound migration through the Santa Barbara Channel. The rest of the year, we focus on a relaxed wildlife sail and authentic coastal sailing experience, looking for whatever the ocean has in store that day.
Includes
• Private charter aboard Kelpie
• Licensed captain
• Authentic coastal sailing experience
• Wildlife viewing when conditions allow
• Blankets
Wildlife sightings vary by season and ocean conditions and are never guaranteed; however with over 30 species of cetacean in the channel we see something nearly every sail.
March and April sails are focused on Gray Whale migration where up to 14,000 individuals travel from their birthing grounds in Mexico's Baja peninsula back to the feeding grounds in the Bering Sea, AK; passing through the shallow protected waters of the Santa Barbara Channel.
