What to Expect
Get a thorough and personalized introduction to surfing with your own instructor in our Private lessons. Ages 5 and up. There is no more effective way to learn to surf than by having the undivided attention of a professional instructor to guide you through the pitfalls and get you up and riding your own waves. Pretty much everybody gets up on their first lesson!
For a more thorough introduction to surfing, our Private Surf Lesson Packages might be more suited to your needs. In successive lessons, our students learn how to turn, how to read and select waves, techniques to paddle out through the break, how to best maneuver the board, timing, etiquette, tides and other factors affecting wave quality, and more. In general, most people get a solid basic intro in a 3 lesson package, and are able to consistently catch waves and stand on their own. In a 5 lesson package, most are able to turn fairly consistently after catching a wave. After a 7 lesson package, many are able to identify a rideable open-face wave, and have moderate success at maneuvering themselves into position to catch it. What To Wear
- A swimsuit that can be worn underneath a wetsuit
- Apply waterproof sunscreen on your face prior to arriving to your lesson
What To Bring
- A towel for drying off
- Drinking water to stay hydrated
- Your cell phone and other essentials. There is no locked storage to keep your belongings in on the beach, but we enter the water right in front of our set up and it is very safe. It is a public beach though, so be sure to conceal any valuables and place them in a safe spot among our gear.
- Gratuity is not included in the lesson fee. Gratuities are not mandatory, but are of course always appreciated!

Cancellation Policy
Students that haven't arrived at their scheduled lesson and cannot be reached by phone are considered no-shows at 20 minutes after the scheduled lesson start time (call if you are running late and we will do our best to accommodate you - we want your experience to be a great one!). Lessons that start late due to late student arrival will not be rescheduled and will end at the originally scheduled time as we have lessons scheduled throughout the day.
nFull payment is due in advance. All payments are non-refundable. All reschedules or cancellations must be made at least 48 hours in advance to receive full credit towards additional services. Any cancellations or reschedules made less than 48 hours in advance will receive no refund nor credit.
nLearn To Surf L.A. reserves the right to cancel any services if we deem the conditions to be unsafe or if minimum enrollments are not met. In the event of such a cancellation, all services will be either rescheduled or fully refunded.
