Tomales Bay is alive in every direction — harbor seals surfacing in the distance, pelicans gliding low over the water, shorebirds moving with the tide, and eelgrass beds sheltering the small, hidden life of the bay.
Our Wildlife Day Tours are designed as slow, guided paddles for people who want to experience the bay with attention, respect, and curiosity. We move at an easy pace, pausing often to observe what is happening around us: birds feeding, seals resting, rays moving through shallow water, clouds crossing the hills, light shifting on the shoreline.
This is not a rush-through tour. It is an invitation to slow down and notice.
Who this experience is for
- Curious adults, families, friend groups, first-time paddlers, locals, visitors, nature lovers, and anyone who wants to spend meaningful time on the water.
- No prior kayaking experience is required. These tours are beginner-friendly and designed to feel safe, welcoming, and accessible.
Children ages 7+ are welcome on daytime tours when accompanied by a parent or guardian. Younger paddlers may be placed in tandem kayaks with an adult depending on conditions, size, comfort, and guide discretion.
Wildlife
Tomales Bay is home to a rich and changing community of wildlife. Depending on the season, tide, weather, and time of day, you may see harbor seals, brown pelicans, cormorants, egrets, herons, osprey, gulls, shorebirds, leopard sharks, bat rays, jellyfish, and other marine life.
Every tour is different. Wildlife sightings are never guaranteed, but the bay is always offering something: a ripple, a wingbeat, a call from the marsh, a seal’s head appearing and disappearing in the water.
We observe all wildlife from respectful distances and follow practices that protect resting, feeding, nesting, and pupping animals.

Thank you for booking with Kayak + Connect. We understand that plans can change, and we’ll always do our best to be helpful when we can.
Because our experiences require advance staffing, equipment preparation, launch planning, and limited group capacity, we ask guests to give as much notice as possible if they need to cancel or reschedule.
Guest Cancellations
Cancellations made 7 or more days before your scheduled experience may receive a refund, minus any non-refundable booking or processing fees.
Cancellations made less than 7 days before your scheduled experience are not eligible for a refund. When possible, we will do our best to reschedule you for another available date.
No-shows and same-day cancellations are not eligible for a refund or credit.
Weather & Safety
Your safety always comes first.
Kayak + Connect may cancel or reschedule an experience due to wind, tides, visibility, weather, water conditions, guide discretion, staffing, launch access, or other safety concerns.
If Kayak + Connect cancels your experience for weather or safety reasons, you will be offered the option to reschedule or receive a refund.
Please note that forecasts are advisory. Actual conditions at the launch site and on the water are what determine whether it is safe to paddle.
Late Arrivals
Tours begin at the scheduled time. Guests who arrive late may miss the tour and may not be eligible for a refund or credit.
Please plan to arrive early enough for parking, check-in, waivers, restroom use, and preparation.
Private Groups
Private group bookings may have separate cancellation and rescheduling terms depending on group size, staffing, planning time, food purchasing, transportation, and any special arrangements made in advance.
