Slump or Drape Fused Glass - Introductory Class

Discover how flat pieces of glass can be transformed into a beautiful, dimensional work of art!

In this beginner-friendly class, you’ll learn essential glass safety and practice cutting glass into straight-edged shapes, including squares, rectangles, and triangles. Then you’ll arrange your colorful glass pieces to create one unique project.

Choose from:

A 6" x 6" design that will be shaped into a small dish or tealight holder
A 4" x 8" design that will become a shallow tray or dish

Your project will be built flat during class and fired twice in our kilns. The first firing fuses the individual pieces of glass together. During the second firing, the glass is placed over or inside a mold so it gently slumps or drapes into its final shape.

Finished projects are food-safe and suitable for holding a tealight candle. Because kiln firing takes time, artwork will be ready for pickup approximately one week after class. Projects may be picked up individually, or one person may collect the entire group’s artwork.

No glass experience is needed—just bring your curiosity and get ready to create something colorful, useful, and completely your own!

Note: Artwork will be fired in a kiln and may take 3-7 days. Shipping is available for travelers at an additional cost.

What to bring

• Closed toed shoes are required.
• You are welcome to bring a mask, if you would feel more comfortable.
• Some people prefer to wear gloves when working with with glass. As it can make some folks less sensitive to the glass, this is optional. Find a pair that fits snugly and are rubberized to prevent the glass from slipping.
