WHAT TO EXPECT
Your PADI Discover Scuba Diving Experience

Never tried scuba diving before? You’re in the right place!

Your PADI Discover Scuba Diving experience is an introduction to the underwater world—no previous scuba experience is necessary.

YOU MUST KNOW HOW TO SWIM and BE COMFORTABLE IN THE OPEN OCEAN

BEFORE YOUR DIVE

When you arrive at Catalina Divers Supply, you’ll meet your PADI Professional, complete the required paperwork and be fitted with your scuba equipment.

You’ll receive a safety briefing and learn the basics of scuba diving, including how your equipment works, how to breathe underwater, communicate with your instructor and a few simple skills to help you feel comfortable.

We provide all the equipment necessary for this scuba experience.

Please arrive on time, rested and ready for an adventure!

IMPORTANT TO KNOW

Discover Scuba Diving is an experience, not a scuba certification course. Your PADI Professional will keep the dive within the appropriate limits for the program and conditions.

You’ll need to complete PADI paperwork, including a diver medical questionnaire. Depending on your answers, medical approval from a physician may be required before you can dive.

GETTING IN THE WATER

Your PADI Professional will be with you throughout your experience.

You’ll begin in shallow water where you can get comfortable breathing underwater and practice a few basic scuba skills. While the water is shallow you will not be able to stand up. So if you are not comfortable in the open ocean this experience is not for you.

Once you’re ready, it’s time to explore Catalina’s underwater world!

Relax, look around and enjoy the experience of swimming underwater while discovering Catalina’s incredible marine life and kelp forest.

Ocean and weather conditions can change, so dive locations or schedules may occasionally need to be adjusted for safety.

All our classes include one instructor to two discover scuba students. We do not allow cameras to be used, if you want a video memory of your scuba experience then another instructor will be added to the ratio.
