What to Expect

Dive Adventures include three dives throughout the day at carefully selected sites featuring towering kelp forests, colorful reefs, sea lion colonies, and the incredible marine life that makes the Channel Islands one of California's premier diving destinations.

Typical dive depths range from 20 to 50 feet, making many of our sites suitable for Open Water certified divers and Junior Open Water, though conditions vary daily.

More Than Just Scuba

While scuba diving is the primary focus of our public trips, freedivers, snorkelers, and ride-along guests are also welcome aboard.

  • Freedivers are welcome on all standard Dive Adventures. Looking for a quieter experience? We also offer dedicated Freediving Adventure trips with no scuba divers onboard.
  • Snorkelers are welcome to explore the kelp forests and marine life alongside our dive operations. During the summer, be sure to check out our dedicated Summer Snorkel Adventures, designed specifically for snorkelers.
  • Ride-Along Guests can relax aboard, enjoy the scenery, watch for dolphins and whales, soak in the hot tub, and spend a memorable day on the water with family and friends.

New to California Diving?

Make your first Channel Islands experience even better by adding one of our professional dive guides during booking.

Whether you're new to kelp forest diving, visiting from out of state, building confidence, or simply looking for a more personalized experience, our guides help you navigate the sites, improve comfort in local conditions, locate marine life, and get the most from every dive.

Both public and private guide options are available on all trips.

Public or Private Dive Guide?

Whether you're new to the Channel Islands or simply want to get more out of your dive, adding a professional guide is one of the best ways to enhance your experience.

Public Dive Guide

Join a small group of divers with a professional guide who will help navigate the dive site, point out marine life, and provide local knowledge. It's a great option for newer divers, visitors, underwater photographers, or anyone wanting extra confidence in the water.

Private Dive Guide

Want a more personalized experience? A private guide is dedicated exclusively to you and your group. Set your own pace, spend more time photographing wildlife, practice skills, search for specific marine life, or simply enjoy the flexibility of having a guide focused entirely on your dive.

Both guide options are available during booking and are a great way to experience the Channel Islands with confidence.

Traveling with a Junior Diver?

Have a certified junior diver, but you're not scuba certified? A private dive guide is a great option.

Your guide provides one-on-one supervision, helps your junior diver navigate the dive site, builds confidence, points out marine life, and allows parents or family members to enjoy the day from the boat.

PADI Junior Open Water standards apply: Divers ages 10–11 must dive with a PADI Professional or a certified parent or guardian. Divers ages 12–14 must dive with a certified adult.
