What to Expect
Discover the beauty of Kings Canyon National Park during the quieter winter season! Walk beneath towering giant sequoias, explore historic Grant Grove, and, when conditions allow, experience the incredible sight of these ancient trees surrounded by snow.
This beginner-friendly guided tour focuses on the Grant Grove area of Kings Canyon National Park. Walk among magnificent giant sequoias and visit the General Grant Tree, the second-largest known giant sequoia by trunk volume and one of the most celebrated trees in the park.
Your day may also include a visit to the Big Stump area, where you’ll learn about the history of giant sequoia logging and why protecting these remarkable trees became so important. Enjoy time in Grant Grove Village and visit the Kings Canyon Visitor Center before heading home.
Winter offers a completely different way to experience Kings Canyon, with fewer crowds, crisp mountain air, beautiful forest scenery, and the possibility of walking among snow-covered giant sequoias.
