Cochise Stronghold at the Dragoon Mountains
For all ages!
What to Expect
In this tour, tour participants will be transported through Tombstone to the base of the Dragoon Mountains, where they will follow a rugged jeep trail to the Cochise Stronghold trailhead. In this out and back hike (approximately 10 miles in length with an elevation gain of 1,100 feet each way), the hiker will see and experience a back country playground of towering pink granite domes with a multitudinous display of cracks, slabs, steep plates and faces.
Along the way to the trailhead, tour participants will see Native American rock art and the place where the Indian leader, Cochise, in 1872 finally made peace with the US government, and Council Rocks.
