What to Expect

A unique Alaska experience you’ll always remember!

The tour begins as you rise above Girdwood Valley on a scenic helicopter flight into the Chugach Mountains. You’ll have great photo opportunities from the air before landing on Punchbowl Glacier, a giant snowfield 3,200 feet above sea level.

On the glacier, the mushers will greet you at the helicopter and introduce you to the team of Alaskan Huskies. We partner with Seavey’s IdidaRide Kennel, owned by Mitch Seavey, a mushing legend and three-time Iditarod Champion. The mushers and dogs live and train at the glacier camp all summer long.

As the mushers select dogs for the sleds, the team barks with anticipation. You’ll see how the sled works, then you’re off on an exhilarating ride on the snow, surrounded by a gorgeous backdrop of glaciers and mountains. The musher will be your guide as you stand on the runners or sit back on the sled and take in the views. Afterward, you’ll have time to play with the adorable puppies.

At the end of the experience you’ll get a quick tour of the camp, and learn interesting facts about the musher’s lifestyle.

This is an active tour. Guests must be able to walk approximately 100 yards over uneven terrain.
